Chuck is a dad to two high school kids, a lover of rock music, loving husband, and a full time (shift working) employee. Chuck has been at Okie CrossFit for two years. We asked him some questions about his time at Okie CrossFit and here is what he had to say.
Okie- What motivated you to start at Okie?
Chuck- Before starting Okie I was a 20-30 mile a week runner and weekend 5K/10K run guy for 15 years. I reached a point where I felt completely burned out with running and I knew I had long-neglected any meaningful strength work. I needed a balance.
Okie- What keeps you coming back to Okie?
Chuck- My wife and kids. I want to be around a long time for them.
Okie- How do you define your success?
Chuck- I’ve consistently hit the gym for the past 2 years and kept my nutrition in check better than any point in my life. I flat out feel better than I have in 20 years.
Okie- What was your biggest obstacle you overcame to achieve your success?
Chuck- Coming to the realization that I’m no longer 20, 30 or even 40. I’ve learned (the hard way at times) that my body just doesn’t bounce back the way it used to. In that light, knowing when to back off in a workout or when to take a rest day or 2 has been key. And that’s why Okie CrossFit is so great; the scalability. And Lord knows I’m the king of scaling.
Okie- What advice would you give others looking to start with Okie?
Chuck- Don’t be afraid. The coaching, support, and fellowship at Okie is incredible.
